Domaine Pignier GPS 2023
Blend of White Gamay (the former name of Chardonnay), Poulsard and Savagnin, planted together in the vines, aged in oak barrels for 6 months with no added SO2. A fruity wine.
These vines are “complantées“, meaning planted together, an old wine-growing method whereby a mixture of grape varieties are planted side by side in the same plot.
TERROIR
From the Val de Vallière gorge, on a slope facing the village of Montaigu, southerly exposure. Clayey limestone, blue-black marls with some lias slate.
OUR WINEMAKING KNOW-HOW
Work in the Vines Vineyard tended biodynamically, Demeter inspection and certification since 2003: applications of horn manure, silica and herbal teas.
VARIETY AND YIELD
40% Chardonnay (formerly called White Gamay), 40% Poulsard and 20% Savagnin from vines yielding 1.7 to 2.3 TPA (30 to 40Hl/Ha) depending on the variety.
An old technique whereby a mixture of varieties was planted in a single plot.
TASTING NOTES
Pale gold in colour, floral and fruity on the nose, where you can detect the distinctive aromas of the three different varieties.
FOOD PAIRING SUGGESTIONS
Ideally drunk cool as an aperitif with fish or sushi.
